The challenge

What was the challenge?

A 96-room hotel in Al Seef sold most nights through online travel agencies. Its site was a slideshow with little text, the booking engine added seconds to each page, and it did not rank for searches like "staycation with pool Dubai Creek" or "family hotel near Dubai Frame".

The strategy

What was the strategy?

  1. 01

Add real content to rooms, dining and area pages

  2. 02

Target guest types and occasions instead of only the brand name

  3. 03

Make direct booking faster and more rewarding than an OTA

The playbook

What exactly was done?

3 moves, each with what was done and why it mattered.

  1. 01Content

    Rewrote rooms and area guides

Added room sizes, views and bed setups, plus guides to Al Seef, Dubai Creek and nearby attractions, written by the concierge team.

Why it mattered: Guests want to picture the stay. Local knowledge from staff is what a chain template cannot match, and assistants quote it.

  2. 02Technical SEO

    Fixed speed and hotel schema

Deferred the booking widget, compressed galleries and added Hotel, HotelRoom and Offer schema, with prices that matched booking engine data.

Why it mattered: Guests compare on mobile. Quicker pages and accurate structured data helped the hotel in Google's hotel results.

  3. 03Direct revenue

    Connected Business Profile and offers

Enabled free booking links on Google, added direct-only offers and sent staycation guests to specific landing pages.

Why it mattered: Every booking moved from an OTA saved commission, and residents searching for staycations became a steady low-season market.

The principles

What do I stand for?

  • Sell the stay, not the brochure

Specific rooms, views and local knowledge win over slideshows.

  • Report revenue after commission

A direct booking should be measured by what the hotel keeps.
